How journaling changed my life

Since last year I have been journaling everyday which has been very therapeutic and healing. It allowed me to express my emotions and record my experiences to understand myself better. If you have not tried journaling then I suggest you try it to help you on your journey of self discovery!

How journaling helped me heal

When I started my intense healing process, it came on suddenly with many emotions and energies in my body. At first I did not know what to make of it and what exactly was happening. One day I decided to record all of my emotions everyday through journalling. I wrote a journal entry everyday (and still do) about how my day went. I noticed that it helped me release some of the emotions by writing them down. I was able to express how I felt about certain emotions, past experience or situation. I even wrote down times that triggered me and what kinds of feelings were brought up and why. The journalling process allowed me to analyze myself and really try to understand why certain emotions and feelings were coming up to the surface. I allowed the emotions to surface and then I would use my journal as a record and a friend that I could safely express them to.

Now I look back at some of the journal entries and can make sense of what was happening and why. Sometimes, when we are in a phase we may not be ready to hear or understand what is going on and for what reasons. We may not understand the virtues and lessons yet. However, once we are ready on a conscious level to understand and receive the insight, it will be given to us. We can then go back and rewind the past experiences and truly understand the virtues. From my own experiences, the understanding comes later. This is why some experiences once you are in them are confusing and can feel difficult until we understand why we had to go through them. Journalling can help you understand. You record the emotions and experiences and then later you make sense of them when you are ready. I learned that writing down the emotions and experiences helps you later, when you finally have clarity and then your journal records reaffirm your clarity and you have an a-ha moment.

How journaling became a spiritual tool

Journaling became my way of expressing myself and letting out my emotions. It also allowed me to analyze and do some self-reflection using my journal entries, therefore journaling became an important spiritual tool for my spiritual growth and expansion!

If you have not tried journalling, then I suggest try it and see if it will help you like it helped me. It might not help right away, but if you continue everyday just writing down what you are experiencing then months down the line or even years when you will need it to show you something important - and it will!

All you need to do is find some time in the day to write down your emotions and experiences. Usually I do this throughout the day, depends on what I am feeling. I just write down everything that is relevant as I go along my day. Sometimes I just write in the evening, at the end of the day. Sometimes in the mornings, depending on if I feel like what I am feeling or experiencing needs to be written down.

Use your journal to record your dreams

Another way to use your journal is to record your dreams. I use mine as a dream journal as well, every morning I write down my dreams. Usually when we are going through a healing phase, we start having more intense dreams. These dreams are very significant and important to take note of as they provide a lot of insights for you to understand more of your subconscious mind. They also reveal to you your fears and unprocessed emotions. So once you start your healing journey it is important to keep track of your dreams for important insights. My dreams have been so important for my journey and my journal has helped me record them. Once you have a record of your dreams you can analyze them and see if there is any important insights that you find, usually it will tell you what you need to work on and reveal your deep wounds.
