Essential foods for healthy hormone health for women

Hormone health is so vital & it is directly linked to your lifestyle, therefore your diet plays a big role in your hormone health. In this post I would like to share some of my own diet & what I always eat to keep my hormones healthy & balanced. So the key is to eat HEALTHY FATS. Healthy fats are directly linked to feminine hormones & play a big role in producing the right hormones & maintaining balance. This is so important for us women as our hormones navigate a lot of our overall wellbeing.

Therefore, it is important to look at your diet overall when trying to balance your hormone health. Sometimes when your hormone health is affected, it can cause you to have many symptoms, these symptoms are directly pointing to your unbalanced lifestyle or diet, perhaps something else. Your menstrual cycle can also be affected because of an unbalanced diet or lifestyle.

Your hormones can be affected by all the 4 bodies, the mental, spiritual, physical & emotional. But when we are speaking of diet specifically there are certain foods women need to eat in order to maintain a healthy hormone balance & these are healthy fats. Make sure you follow your body’s direction on what you need, observe your cravings & honour what you feel. Intuitive eating plays a big role in hormone health.

Healthy fats I eat regularly & recommend for health hormones:

  1. Sardines - I eat these all the time, they are amazing for the feminine energy in general

  2. Avocados

  3. Salmon

  4. Nuts - walnuts, almonds, cashews & pistachios

  5. Seeds - like hemp seeds, chia seeds or flax

  6. Dark chocolate - make sure its 70% or more in cacao

  7. Almond oil, coconut oil or hemp oil

I avoid eggs as they are an inflammatory food & have a lot of toxins in them. Some consider eggs as healthy fats but if you do eat them make sure they are free-range & organic. Follow your body. If you are on a detox diet or a clean diet then you can also eat healthy fats & should still incorporate them, but avoid inflammatory foods like eggs.

One of my favourite salads with sardines!

You should also avoid diets that are too restrictive & unbalanced because it will affect your hormone health & cause symptoms. I only recommend clean diets to clients when they are needing to restrict sugar, high cholesterol etc. However, I believe in eating what your body needs, therefore intuitive eating is what I recommend for all. It really depends on your situation, all women are different & have different lifestyles and are on different energetic levels. This is why recommendations will differ but there are basic rules to follow when it comes to eating a balanced diet.

There are times when we need to detox & follow a stricter diet or cut certain foods out which is totally fine in order to help your body get back into balance.

What contributes to unbalanced hormonal health:

  1. Heavy exercise - over excretion

  2. Stress & anxiety

  3. Eating too little or too much - unbalanced diet, not getting enough calories, healthy fats or enough vitamins or nutrients or eating too heavy

  4. Lack of sleep

  5. Hectic lifestyle - avoid being too much in your masculine energy, start living in flow more & in alignment to your feminine energy

  6. Avoiding your emotions - start addressing emotional issues in order to release dense energies, working to balance your 4 bodies is vital for overall healthy hormone production in the body
